The Logsene Changelog: new features, enhancements, and bug fixes.


RELEASE 0.6, 2013-07-07

Features & Improvements

  • Much improved UI, including:
    • support for multiple queries, which can also be added to the same graph
    • recent queries, in addition to saved queries
    • Logsene graphs can be added to dashboards
    • number of unique values of each field is shown next to the field name
    • sticky filters on host name, tags and source
    • easier access to application settings
    • the results table doesn't have pages anymore, you just scroll
  • Provided script to configure syslog daemons to send local logs to Logsene. This includes tailing files and multi-line support

  • Completely new UI, allowing you to:
    • search using Lucene query syntax, select time ranges
    • add, remove, resize, change the order of columns in the results table
    • see a histogram of logs matching your search
    • change app settings, like retention, without leaving the UI
    • easily switch between Logsene (and SPM and Search Analytics) apps and creating new ones
  • Implemented Saved Queries, so you don't have to re-type them
  • Export logs to CSV or paste them to a GitHub Gist so you can easily share them
  • Added support for Kibana 3, milestone 4

NOTE: Yes, you can still use Kibana, as well as the Logsene UI. Whether it's the one we host, or one that you install on your own and point to Logsene.
